LSU's primary starting point guard for the last 1 1/2 seasons … Solid player who doesn't get his team in trouble … Will be looked to for senior leadership to help bring along the 2004-05 team.
JUNIOR SEASON (2003-04)
Started 26-of-29 games this season (including 15 of 16 conference games), averaging just under 25 minutes a contest … Averaged 4.1 points, 3.0 assists and 2.4 rebounds a game … With 88 assists and 62 turnovers, it marked the fifth consecutive year the primary starting LSU point guard had more assists than turnovers at the end of the year … Against Troy State (11-26), he had his first career double figure scoring game with 11 points (4-of-8 FGs, including three treys) … SEC high of nine this year came against Kentucky (2-29) … Made 12 treys … Five games of five or more assists … Only five games of more turnovers than assists.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2002-03)
Had seen action in just seven games and just 33 minutes of playing time before being inserted for the final 11 minutes of the game at Alabama (2-1) … He would start the remaining 13 games of the season, playing almost 290 minutes as LSU won nine of the 13 games … Whipple averaged 2.7 points per game for the season for the 22 games he played in, 1.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game … Average went up 1.4 points in the 13 games he started … In his starts, had four or more assists in six games, including six at Auburn and five against Mississippi State in the SEC Tournament … Scored eight points at Tennessee, seven against Centenary … Hit 20-of-38 field goal attempts, including five treys.
FRESHMAN SEASON (2001-02)
Averaged 5.8 minutes in the 18 games he participated in as a freshman, averaging 0.8 points per game and 0.7 rebounds and assists … Best game was against Southern University (11-19) when he played 10 minutes, hitting all three of his field-goal attempts, including one from outside the three-point arc and both of his free-throw attempts for a high of nine points … Also would score against Northwestern State (2 points, 12-2) and at Ole Miss (3 points, 1-23) … Had two assists against Mercer (11-25), Nicholls State (11-30) and at Florida (1-16).

Averaged 20.8 points per game, six rebounds, seven assists and three steals in his senior season at Wilkinson County High in Irwinton, Ga. … Dr. Aaron Geter was high school basketball coach … Also played quarterback in high school, earning all-state honors … Team won two basketball state championships in 1999 and 2000 … Named the Player of the Year in the Georgia prep classification in 1999 and 2001 … Named Middle Georgia Player of the Year in 2001 by the Macon Telegraph and three-time all-state first team as selected by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
