No Doubting Denmark
That's to make the Tallahassee Rickards star the next Steve Atwater, Kenoy Kennedy or Ken Hamlin – three former Razorbacks that were big, hard-hitting strong safeties that brought the lumber so well they ended up in the NFL.
"I really love the idea of playing there and they are the only school that sees me at safety instead of being a linebacker," Denmark said. "I'd do whatever is best for the team, but it really has me excited that is what they see for me and if it doesn't work out they are still two or three other places they think I could make plays at."
Denmark, who has two cousins on the current UA roster in Michael Smith and Rudell Crim, was one of six official visitors this past weekend to Fayetteville to check out the Razorbacks.
Denmark, who had 7 ½ sacks this season among his 50-plus tackles while also causing five fumbles, was happy with what he found.
"I fell in love with everything – the stadium, the weight room, the coaches and the players and the food," Denmark said. "It was all great.
"One thing that really stood out was that the coaches are real with you," Denmark added. "They don't try to sugarcoat things and tell you what you want to hear. They tell you how things are going to be and then want you to come make it happen."
Denmark had said earlier Sunday that he had made his decision and would likely announce that in the near future.
"I've made my decision, but I think I am not going to go public with it just yet," Denmark said. "I'm not hiding the fact that Arkansas is my leader, however. It was great."
One thing that did change during the day was the announcement that Arkansas assistant coach Paul Petrino was leaving to become the new offensive coordinator at Illinois.
Petrino has been the lead recruiter for Denmark, who has official visits to Illinois and Middle Tennessee State in January already set up that he intends to still go on at the present time.
"Coach Petrino is a real good dude and we have gotten pretty close," Denmark said. "But him leaving won't really be a factor. My decision is on what the best school for me is because coaches come and go. Coach Petrino sold me on Arkansas."
