Dallas (GA) East Paulding's Jahron Brown (6-0, 225, 4.55) became the Razorbacks' 20th pledge of the 2009 recruiting class when he called Razorback assistant Lorenzo Ward.
"I got a chance to see them play against Auburn and I know they are a program that is on the way up," Brown said. "It's a great school, a big-time SEC program and I really like Darren McFadden and if it is good enough for him, I think it can be great for me. Also they have Coach Petrino and he is a great coach."
Brown is the nation's 11th-best fullback according to Scout.com.
"Coach Ward told me they want me to come in and be a guy that can pound out those yards when they need them," Brown said. "Right now all their backs are smaller than me and I'm just in high school and I'm going to get bigger."
While Arkansas was his only BCS offer to this point, he was receiving interest from Alabama, Louisville, Tennessee, Clemson, Mississippi State and Central Florida.
"I try to get every single yard I can on every play," Brown said. "I try to keep my feet moving and keep carrying people and moving the pile as long as a I can."
Scout.com national scouting director Scott Kennedy sized up the 3-star prospect this way:
"A big, bruising running back that has the agility to play running back as well as fullback," Kennedy said. " Brown has excellent balance, power and flexibility to pull through, around, and over would-be tacklers."
As a junior, he rushed for 900 yards and 16 touchdowns on just 106 carries in a 12-1 season.
He's over 600 this season with 12 touchdowns for a 9-1 team that spreads the carries around to four different backs.
"We have had a good season as a team and I think I have done really good," Brown said. "We're just trying to finish it off the right way."
