Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower tailback Curtis McGregor has a few simple goals for his 2008 season.

“I want to help my team go as far as we can, I want to rush for 2,000 yards and I want to have a 1,000 yards receiving,” McGregor said.

While those goals might seem a little lofty to some, McGregor (5-10, 190,, 190, 4.5) certainly has them in his sights after a junior season when he rushed for nearly 1,200 yards and caught passes for almost 700 yards.

“I think our team is better this season, we’ve got a lot of D-1 players and I know I am ready to have an even better season than last year,” McGregor said. “So I think I can reach those goals if I put in the work."

Coaches from schools such as the University of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Miami and Baylor will all be keeping track of his progress.

Apparently they will all be chasing the Razorbacks, where his cousin Tramain Thomas is a true freshman cornerback this season.

“Arkansas has been and still is my number one,” McGregor said. “There is just so much to love about the place like the fact they had two great running backs that were both first-round picks in Felix Jones and Darren McFadden.

“My cousin (Thomas) is up there and he loves the new coaching staff,” McGregor added. “Also my friend Milton Alexander visited there and he although he signed with Florida State, he talked about how great they treated him.”

McGregor believes he could fit in very well with Razorback head coach Bobby Petrino’s offense.

“I can catch the ball really well out of the backfield and I run the ball hard,” McGregor said. “I try to make every play my best play and go at top speed all the time.”

McGregor, who got to see Jones and McFadden while in Fayetteville for a basketball tournament, is anxious to take an official visit to the UA.

“I am looking forward to getting up there and seeing a game,” McGregor said. “I’ve watched them on TV, but I am really excited about being a part of that atmosphere.”
