Tejada Injures Knee During Morning Run

The Morning News/Razorback Central
Posted May 30, 2008

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas kicker Alex Tejada wore a brace and walked on crutches Friday after injuring his left knee while running earlier in the day.

Kevin Trainor, Arkansas’ associate athletic director for media relations and communications, said Tejada will be evaluated in the next few days. But Trainor added that the injury isn’t expected to keep the sophomore out of preseason practice, which begins in August.

Trainor said Tejada suffered a patella subluxation in his left knee — which is his non-kicking leg — during a morning run. It’s the same injury the kicker suffered as a soccer player at Springdale High.

Tejada, as a freshman, led the Razorbacks in scoring last season with 109 points. He connected on 17-of-23 field goals and 58-of-60 extra-point attempts.
