Petrino Opens Spring Practice To Fans

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino said Thursday that fans will be allowed to watch the Razorbacks when they open spring practice next week.

Petrino said all of the practices will be open to fans, adding that he wanted hundreds of them to come out to Arkansas’ practice fields to support the team.

“I think that will help our players understand what kind of stage we’re on,” Petrino said Thursday afternoon while addressing a large crowd in The Church at Pinnacle Hills.

The Razorbacks begin spring practice on April 3 and wrap it up April 26 with the playing of the Red-White spring game.

There was some uncertainty over whether Petrino, who was hired Dec. 11 to replace Houston Nutt, would allow fans and the media to watch his first spring practice at Arkansas. But Petrino encouraged fans to come out to practice in large crowds.

“We play for the fans, that’s certainly a big part of the university,” Petrino said.
