De'Anthony Curtis, a 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back from Camden Fairview High in Arkansas
made a verbal commitment to play for Arkansas today at a ceremony in front of family, friends, teammates, and coaches.
Curtis is rated as a four-star prospect by Scout.com, and racked up offers from schools like Tennessee, Mississippi State, Arkansas State, Oklahoma State and Tulsa before pledging to Arkansas.
"It was my hometown team," Curtis said of his reasoning behind the decision. "I feel like it was the best decision for me an my family."
"Everyone that was at the press conference was very happy to see that was going to be a Razorback."
As a junior, Curtis rushed for 568 yards and 11 touchdowns and racked up 651 receiving yards and six touchdowns to earn All-State, All-Conference, and Class 5A SW Back Of The Year honors.
"Yes Sir, they are planning on using me as a running back" the well mannered Curtis replied when asked what the coaching staff's plans were for his position in college.
Curtis joins fellow teammate Jim Youngblood as the second player from his high school to commit to sign with the Razorbacks on National Letter of Intent Day 2008. Might Lavunce Askew make it three?
"He is next in line," Curtis exclaimed with a laugh.
