Tyler Wilson is considered by some to be the top quarterback in Arkansas and a scholarship offer…
Tyler Wilson Receives National Attention
Recruiting has been a whirlwind the last couple of months for Tyler Wilson, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound quarterback from Greenwood, Ark. "I have now gotten offers from Alabama, LSU, Arizona, Kansas and Tulsa," Wilson explained. "All of the attention is kind of unexpected. It all kind of blew up in a short period of time. It has been chaotic, but it has been real exciting. It took a curve up here latterly, but I am trying to enjoy it because I know that it will only last for a short period of time." The humble Wilson tried his best to explain his biggest assets on the field of play. "I am not a guy that has blazing speed," Wilson began. "I like to sit back and read the defenses. I do have enough speed to make the defenders miss when I am under pressure. I can move around enough to find the open man or find an open lane to deliver the ball." "I also feel like I have the leadership as well. Football is the biggest team sport that there is, and you need to have a leader on the field." Wilson was planning to attend the Arkansas spring scrimmage on Saturday, but some more important matters arose. "I actually did not attend because I took my ACT test and I went to prom," Wilson reported. "It was a long day and night. The prom is more for the girls. It was a long day for sure." "I did go to a scrimmage the weekend before and I have seen some of their campus before." "Felix Jones or McFadden did not play, but I was pretty impressed with how the offense ran the ball. They looked like they are heading in the right direction." Wilson is also a fine baseball prospect and has at least entertained the thought of playing both sports on the next level, but at this point in time he may be leaning towards a future in football. "Right now I am unsure," Wilson said. "It would be fun to play both sports on the next level, but it would be tough. I might just opt to go with the one sport." "As far as scholarships go I have nothing in writing in baseball. I do have a verbal offer from U of A. Recruiting interest in baseball has really picked up since summer. Arizona and LSU have told me that I could play both sports if I was interested." Wilson threw for 4,222 yards and 50 touchdowns last season. An All-Conference and All-State performer, Wilson threw for 582 yards and six scores in a winning state championship performance.
