FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas tailback Darren McFadden was one of three freshman named to the All-Southeastern Conference first team by league coaches on Tuesday.
It's the second such award in as many days for McFadden, who also was named an All-SEC first teamer by the Associated Press on Monday. The other freshmen on the first team are South Carolina receiver Sydney Rice and Vanderbilt receiver Earl Bennett.
Razorbacks junior linebacker Sam Olajubutu was named to the first team defense. True freshman Felix Jones was the only other Arkansas player honored as he was named to the second team as a return specialist.
McFadden, who recently had arthroscopic knee surgery, averaged 101.2 yards per game to become only the seventh SEC freshman to rush for more than 1,000 yards. He set school records for rushing yards (1,113), 100-yard rushing games (5) and touchdowns by a freshman (11).
Olajubutu started all 11 games and was the workhorse of the Hogs' linebacking corps. According to coaches' video, he led the team with 118 tackles, including 69 solo stops, 14.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also recorded 10 quarterback hurries, three bass breakups and forced a fumble.
Jones led the nation with 32.1 yards per kickoff return. He became the seventh Razorback and first since 1994 to return a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in 44-10 win against Mississippi State. He accounted for 116.4 all purpose yards per game, including 56.9 yards rushing.
The All-SEC teams are selected by league coaches, who are not allowed to vote for themselves or their own players. Individual awards are expected to be released today while the SEC All-Freshman team will be announced Thursday.
