Fayetteville safety Dre Greenlaw (6-1, 220) hopes he will soon have the choice of deciding between…
Greenlaw Healed Up
The three-star safety suffered a Jones fracture, which is a fracture of the fifth metatarsal, and had surgery to put a screw in his foot in April, putting him out of commission for a few weeks.
“I kind of had to let it heal up,” Greenlaw said. “After it started healing, I was able to swim in a pool. I was also able to lift weights with my upper body and work on flexibility, my hips and core type stuff.”
Fayetteville is one of over 30 teams set to participate in this weekend's Southwest Elite 7-on-7 Tournament at Shiloh Christian in Springdale.
While Greenlaw is committed to Arkansas State, he said he is still considering attending Arkansas’ Elite Camp on July 24.
“I’m planning on going to it,” Greenlaw said. “(Arkansas tight ends) coach (Barry) Lunney wants me to go out there and do some drills and I will if I’m able to.”
He said that week is a very busy one for him, highlighted by his brother coming into town to visit on a break from the Navy.
Other than Arkansas State, Greenlaw has offers from Memphis, Southern Miss, Tulsa and Washington State. He is also planning on attending camps at Oklahoma and Ole Miss this month.
On top of the camps, Greenlaw said he is working on several aspects of his game, most notably his speed and endurance because he plays defense and special teams at Fayetteville.
“I’m trying to work on running long distances for a long time without getting tired,” Greenlaw said. “I also want to get stronger so I can hold up during games.”
