Arkansas In Walker's Top Three
Lake Wales standout Marcus Walker (6-2, 180, 4.5), who picked off three passes in scrimmage work at the Razorback high school camp on Monday, says the Razorbacks are firmly in his top three schools from the 28 offers he has so far.
Among those who have offered are with Arkansas, Michigan State, Kentucky, (where he was earlier committed), Florida, Tennessee, Virginia, Illinois, Duke, Vanderbilt, South Florida and Central Florida.
"I know that with the coaching change they are on the upcoming and with bringing in the next two recruiting classes, it is going to be a better school in the future," Walker said. "And they need people like me at my position...They are in my top three."
Walker, who had 30 tackles and 5 interceptions last season in 10 games, has a 3.8 grade point average and is clear about what he wants from a school.
"The coaching is good and I just want to make sure I come to a school where the staff will care about me after I graduate, who will stay in touch with me and help me whenever I need help," Walker said. "I also want a coaching staff that is not going to be too nice, but to be on me and don't tell me what I want to hear. I want them to be on me and tell me what I need to do to be better."
As obvious by his five picks last season, Walker gets to the football.
"I am physical, I am rangy, I get interceptions, I'm fast and I read the quarterback," Walker said. "One thing I should get better on is my feet – just working my feet a little bit."
Walker says that he thinks he would likely best for him if he were to leave the state and get out on his own to play his college football.
"I don't mind leaving the state," Walker said. "I think out of state is probably a better option for me to get to where I want to go to the next level. I think going out of state will be better for me."
Walker will try to officially narrow down his list to three soon.
"I am going to make, probably, two or three officials," Walker said. "In the next couple of weeks, I am going to narrow it down to my top three schools, take those three officials and then after I take those visits I will make my decision."
