Safety Payton Hendrix of Dallas (Texas) Bishop Dunne explains how earning an offer from Notre Dame…
Safety Payton Hendrix (6-2, 190) says that he could very well join recent Razorback pledge Jovan Pruitt (6-5, 300) in Fayetteville – something that he did last weekend for his second unofficial visit to Arkansas.
"Arkansas has a great coaching staff and the opportunity to play in the SEC is really something that's exciting," Hendrix said. "I also know that there is a chance that I could get early playing time and that is real important to me."
Arkansas is just one of several schools that have offered Hendrix a scholarship with Nebraska, Kansas State, Stanford, North Carolina, Iowa, Colorado and Washington among the others.
Hendrix - the cousin of new Razorback basketball player Keaton Miles, had 86 tackles, four interceptions, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries, played at Red Brook last season before transferring to Bishop Dunne before spring practice.
Pruitt, who had offers from Alabama, Texas, Notre Dame and others, loves what he sees from his new teammate.
"He is a real physical athlete that can do anything that he puts his mind to," Pruitt said. "If he does end up making his decision to come to Arkansas with me it will be a great thing for us."
Both prospects got a chance to see the new Fred W. Smith Operations Center on what was their second unofficial trips to Fayetteville.
"The new facilities are just top notch and the best that I have seen," Hendrix said.
He also enjoyed getting to be around Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema and defensive coordinator Chris Ash.
"I got a chance to know Coach Ash and Coach B more and I like what I see and hear from them," Hendrix said. "They think I can be a great player for them and really want me to come to Arkansas."
"In the next couple of weeks, I plan to narrow it down to my top five," Hendrix said. "I'll announce that in late July or early August and then make a decision probably some time during or right after our season is over."
