Miles Set For Arkansas Visit
Former Dallas Lincoln prep star and current West Virginia combo forwaard Keaton Miles (6-7, 210) will be in Fayetteville beginning Friday to check out head coach Mike Anderson's Razorback program.
"What made me want to visit Arkansas is that Coach Anderson recruited me the first time before I chose West Virginia and I just feel like his program is about family and that is something that I am looking for," Miles said. "I want to come in and not only be a good basketball player for Arkansas, but also be somebody who is involved in the community.
"Coach Anderson gets that and he is more about the person than he is the player," Miles added. "Plus I think he has a system that really plays to my versatility."
Anderson has a comparison in mind.
"He thinks I am the same type player as his nephew DeMarre Carroll, who transferred (from Vanderbilt) to Missouri and was an impact player for him at Missouri and is now in the NBA," Miles said. "He thinks I can have that same type of impact as a transfer."
Miles, one of four players transferring away from West Virginia program, is also being recruited by Utah and Mississippi State, but likely will decide between the Razorbacks and the Rams.
"I think really those are the two schools that I have the best relationships with the coaches and ones that I have researched and can see myself being successful at," Miles said. "It's going to be tough to sit out a year, but I will just try to develop and be ready to play when my time comes."
Miles was a three-star high school recruit that had offers from West Virginia, Arkansas from former coach John Pelphrey, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Houston, Northwestern and SMU.
He averaged 18 points and 13 rebounds as 6-6, 185-pound senior at Lincoln and was the MVP of the Texas vs. Oklahoma All-Star game.
"I feel like my best asset as a player was my versatility," Miles said. "I didn't really get a chance to show that at West Virginia and that is why I needed to move on."
He started 30 games as a true freshman for the Mountaineers while averaging 1.4 points and 1.9 rebounds and upped that to 2.6 points and 1.9 rebound last season.
Miles has a good feel for Razorback head coach Mike Anderson and his staff, who recruited him when the coach was at Missouri.
"I know that is a style of play that really fits my game and Coach Anderson has told me he wants to let me show off my versatility instead of restricting it like it was at West Virginia," Miles said. "I am happy about that."
Miles will finish up the first session of summer school at West Virginia on June 28 and hopes to be enrolled at his second school for the second semester.
"I want to definitely go visit this two places because I feel like they are both good fits for me," Miles said. "The plan would be to take this visits, get everything moved home and then get to my new school and get enrolled for the second summer school session."

Arkansas will be hosting Miles as it puts on its annual team camp, which runs Friday night through Sunday morning at Bud Walton Arena.
One of the players expected to be on hand is 6-2 junior Columbia (Mo.) Hickman guard Jimmy Whitt.
The Razorbacks also hosted 2014 Arlington (Texas) Martin prospect Nick Babb earlier this week and the 6-6 small forward left with an offer.
Babb now has offers from Arkansas, Creighton, Wichita State, Lehigh, ORU, Rice, Richmond and Texas Tech.
