Jung Visits The Razorbacks
Greenville (Miss.) star Traver Jung (6-4, 220), slated to attend Holmes Community College in his home state this fall, took in the Razorback program with high school head coach and UCA graduate Greg Hendrix.
"It was great and I loved it," Jung said. "The campus was great and I got a chance to visit with the coaches, who were some really great guys. They showed me around and have great facilities. It's a place I could definitely see myself being happy at and playing."
Jung, who has added 15 pounds since he finished his high school career, had 85 tackles, 8.5 for lost yardage, an interception and a fumble recovery his senior season for a Greenville team that finished 2-8.
He got interest from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Auburn and Arkansas State and had the grades, but not a high enough ACT score.
"I only took it one time and didn't get the score I needed," Jung said. "The coaches at the other schools kind of got away from me after that, but Arkansas stuck with me. That impressed me."
In fact, Jung would be very surprised if he does not end up as a Razorback.
"The number one thing that I am concentrating on right now is getting that ACT score up this next time," Jung said. "I don't know about any other schools. Arkansas is the only school I am feeling because of how they stayed with me."
Jung will play for Holmes Community College this season and then could transfer when a higher ACT score is obtained and certified.
"I think another year of experience would be good for me before I come to Arkansas any way," Jung said. "I have only played football for two years now, just my junior and senior years."
Jung believes he came bring several strengths to a football team.
"I believe that I am a leader out there on the field, that I am a team player and very coachable and I really do love to come down and hit," Jung said. "I have put on almost 20 pounds and am up to 220 now, but I know that I need to get getter bigger and faster to play on the next level."
