Arkansas Impresses Tucker
Tucker (6-2, 185), who visited Arkansas for its Red-White game, has 13 different offers already – including one from Stanford, where he will visit next week.
"Most of the coaches that I talk to tell me we love what we see on film from you on the field, but what we really love is what you get done in the classroom," Tucker said. "I take great pride in both and know that isn't the case with a lot of kids."
Tucker, whose school is in the Atlanta area, was one of a record 51,018 fans and prospects on hand for Arkansas spring scrimmage.
"The thing that really stood out to me about the visit was the 51,018 fans, which I believe was a record, that showed up just for the spring game," Tucker said. "That was amazing.
"I also think that Arkansas has great facilities – especially with the ones they are building – and also have great academic facilities also," Tucker added. "That's obviously very important to me in a school.
"Another thing that I liked is just the college atmosphere that Fayetteville has," Tucker continued. "I also like how Dickson Street is just right there off the campus and how students can get together and mingle and it is all just together in a small area. It's just an amazing place."
Tucker, who had 75 tackles and two interceptions as a junior, is being recruited by Arkansas assistant Taver Johnson, who is in charge of Georgia for the Razorbacks.
"Coach Johnson is a great guy and a great coach," Tucker said. "Arkansas had a dinner for the players and their families and the recruits after the Red-White game. My family and I and (Kennesaw Lassiter cornerback) Chris Murphy – who is another recruit from Georgia – sit around and talked with Coach Johnson for a couple of hours. There was no one else left when we got done talking, but it was just so nice and he talked to us about life and not just about football."
Tucker also got a chance to spend some time with Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema.
"Coach Bielema said he is all about family and he is trying to bring that family atmosphere to Arkansas," Bielema said. "He also made it clear to us that he is about more than just the player, he is about the person."
Tucker has narrowed his schools to a top five and plans to have a decision before starting his senior season.
"My top five right now are Stanford, Arkansas, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Louisville," Tucker said. "I would say that Arkansas, Stanford and North Carolina are the schools I like the most and higher on my list than North Carolina State and Louisville."
Tucker has been to Arkansas and North Carolina in addition to several other schools and has plans to visit Stanford next weekend.
"I am also planning on going to camps at Arkansas (June 10-12) and Stanford (June 17-19), but if I commit before then I would only go to that one school this summer," Tucker said. "We'll just see how it works out."
He'll see Johnson in his Arkansas gear at a practice soon after he gets back from the visit from Stanford.
"He is going to be at our spring practice when it starts on May 6," Tucker said. "He and the Arkansas staff have made me feel very wanted."
