Clemson hosted former Florida State wide receiver commitment Jacob McCrary for Junior Day earlier this month.

It was the first trip to Tigertown for the Coral Reef Senior High School [Miami] junior.

"It was good. I enjoyed myself. I got to stay around the coaches and tour the campus. That was pretty good," McCrary recently told CUTigers.

What stood out?

"What really stood out were the coaches. They're great people. No matter what, they're going to try to help you. That's something that I like a lot.

"I don't just want to go to a school and just play football. I want to go up there and learn a lot more, and have a great relationship with the coaches."

Heading into the visit, the 6-foot, 175-pound prospect named a favorite. A couple of weeks later, that school continues to hold a lead.

"As of right now, Clemson is the leader," he said.

McCrary added, "Clemson was the first school to offer me. I always had an eye on them from the get go. The visit made it even better. Because, now that I got up there and saw the school, met the coaches and players, that just made it a lot better."

With 20 offers to his name, McCrary continues to evaluate his options.

"I committed before to Florida State. At the end of the day, it wasn't the best thing for me," he said. "I just want to take things slow, and just go see other schools and see what they have to offer. After that, I'll be ready to make my decision."

As a junior, McCrary missed four games. He finished the season with 13 catches for 311 yards and eight touchdowns.
