Tucker Playing Waiting Game

Little Rock Central standout A.J. Tucker got a visit from new Arkansas assistant Barry Lunney, Jr. on Friday and now will spend this week waiting to see if a scholarship offer and an official visit come his way.

Little Rock Central wideout/safety A.J. Tucker would be okay if a couple of recruits choose to go somewhere other than Arkansas this week.

Tucker's not a hater, he just wants one of the Razorbacks scholarships that are available down the stretch.

That's basically the scenario Arkansas assistant coach Barry Lunney, Jr., laid out for Tucker (6-2, 195) on Friday during a visit to his school.

"He said that all their scholarship offers were out right now, but if a couple of guys went elsewhere then I would get one," Tucker said. "That would be a great. I really want to be a Razorback."

Tucker has offers from Central Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State – all fine schools that he likes.

"But I am waiting to see what Arkansas and Louisiana Tech do," Tucker said. "It's really about the Razorbacks for me. They said they would let me know something later this week."

Tucker had 31 tackles as a safety for Central last season while also catching 28 passes for 516 yards and two touchdowns in the only four games he played wideout before breaking his thumb.

"Coach Lunney talked about them looking at me at both places, but said they were looking at me more at safety right now," Tucker said.
