Sixteen Vanderbilt players make up the first senior class to ever play in two consecutive bowl games during their Commodore careers. Leading up to the Music City Bowl, VandyMania.com will look back on each senior's career. In this segment Archibald Barnes is featured.
THE BASICS:
15 Archie Barnes
Hometown: Tampa, Fla.
High school: Berkeley Prep
Position: LB
HT: 6-4 WT: 235

OVERVIEW:
Archie Barnes wasn't heavily recruited in high school. However, he's another example of the athletic, under the radar type player that the Bobby Johnson regime had a knack for finding. Despite his under-recruitment, Barnes has turned out to be a solid SEC caliber player.
BEST MOMENT:
November 19, 2011. Barnes intercepts two passes against Tennessee and almost single handily leads Vandy over the Vols. The first interception he returns to the UT 6-yard-line to set up a Commodore touchdown. In the third quarter Barnes intercepts another UT pass and returns the pick 100 yards for a touchdown.
MEMORABLE QUOTE:
"I kept giving a glance over my shoulder and Trey Wilson was right there behind me, leading me the whole way, so I just had to make sure I made it to the end zone." Barnes on his 100-yard interception return at UT. November 19, 2011.
HONORS:
2011, Special Teams Player of the Year Award, Team Captain. 2009, Specialist of the Week.
