Arkansas Atop Longino's List
Longino (6-3, 220), a former Cleveland (Ohio) Shaw star who took his official visit to Arkansas this past weekend, has yet to step on the field this season because of a sprained MCL suffered in preseason camp.
He also redshirted last season so he is targeting the Dragon's home game with Oct. 6 as his first time to take the field for Hutchinson.
"We are 3-1 this season and I am getting healthier all the time," Longino said. "I could get out there next week, but I am going to wait one more week and come back in our home game in two weeks. I want to be fully ready and make a different right away when I return." Arkansas has offered four Hutchinson players with defensive tackles Toby Johnson ( 6-4, 305) Ben Bradley (6-3, 315) and wideout Jatavius Stewart (5-11, 180) joining Longino with Razorback offers.
"It's going to be awhile before I make a decision because I am going to take all my visits," Longino said. "I can tell you I am in love with Arkansas and it is going to be hard for anybody to beat this place for me.
"Arkansas was my leader coming into the visit and they certainly are after my visit," Longino added.
Longino will take visits to Mississippi State and Arizona State as well before making committing to a school.
"I just don't want to jump in head first right now," Longino said. "It's best to just take my time before I commit."
He admits that he is surprised Arkansas is 1-3 at this point.
"I've been real surprised with what has happened because I know these are good coaches and that Arkansas has great players," Longino said. "They have some hurt and it's been tough for them to get through the adversity. But I know they are going to get it turned around soon."
The fact that Arkansas needs linebackers next season to replace graduating ones has certainly got Longino's attention.
"I know they have three linebackers that will be going (leaving) after this season and that is really appealing to me because I know there will be playing time available right away."
