Searching for No. 12
Dudley E. Dawson
Posted Aug 2, 2012
In his weekly recruiting column for Hawgs Illustrated, Dudley E. Dawson writes about new Razorback football commitment Myke Tavarres (6-2, 215, 4.4) as well as two other Razorback targets - Kansas City (MO) Rockhurst offensive lineman Zach Hannon (6-5, 300) and Memphis East linebacker Marcus Robinson (6-3, 210). This story is free and sponsored by the Arkansas Toyota Dealers.
With the commitment of junior college linebacker
(6-2, 215, 4.4) on Wednesday,
saw it’s number of 2013 pledges jump to 11.
Who will be No. 12?
There’s a chance it could be either Kansas City (MO) Rockhurst offensive lineman
(6-5, 300) or Memphis East linebacker
Hannon said Friday that he will announce a decision between Arkansas,
on August 8 around noon.
Hannon and fellow Razorback target
(6-4, 265) – a defensive end from Lee’s Summit West - visited Missouri together on Monday.
The friends have also visited Arkansas together and have stated their desire to play at the same school.
“The visit to Missouri went good,” Hannon said. “I went up there with Jamone and some other Missouri guys and it was good to talk to talk with the coaches and get a chance to talk things over.”
Hannon – who starts preseason practice on Monday - has admitted to being close to committing to both Arkansas and Nebraska during the process.
“They are both great schools and that is why it has been such a tough choice,” Hannon said. “I really love the coaches at both places.”
The Razorbacks would obviously love to add both Hannon and Boyd, who says he may announce his selection in September.
“We both really love the Arkansas program and think about how great it would be to play there together,” Hannon said. “We love the coaches, the players, the fans.”
There’s one other thing Arkansas has going for it – the Catfish Hole restaurant.
It is a place that Hannon has fallen seriously in love with during his four unofficial trips to Fayetteville.
“Oh, that food at the Catfish Hole,” Hannon said earlier this summer “It’s just amazing. I wish I could eat there every day.”

Robinson is a very athletic linebacker from Memphis that was invited to
, Nike’s prestigious event that brings 150 of the nation’s best players to campus.
He had planned to visit Arkansas for its Elite Camp on July 21, but a broken finger in 7-on-7 action the day before scratched that trip.
It was thought he was going to visit on Wednesday, but that was pushed back to Sunday.
Robinson has been quoted as saying Arkansas leads
in the race for his signature.
Robinson will likely visit along with two Memphis East teammates - Ole Miss defensive line commit
(6-1, 335) and

Tavarres was a very nice get for the Arkansas, especially since he can transfer from Weed (CA) College of the Siskiyous in January and thus go through off-season workouts and spring practice with the Razorbacks.
The Oregon native chose Arkansas over co-finalist
and several other offers.
“The thing is that they are a great program in the best league in the country – the SEC,” Tavarres said. “I want to be the best and to do that you have to play against the best. That really appeals to me about Arkansas – that and the success that they have had these last few years.”
Tavarres had 53 tackles, 12 sacks, two interceptions five forced fumbles and five quarterback hurries in eight games as a freshman.
He bench presses 320 pounds, squats 450 and has a 36-inch vertical jump.
