Renchie Plans Arkansas Visit
Arkansas already has nine commitments in its 2013 grid recruiting class and could have that to at least 10 in the very near future.
Plano (Texas) Prestonwood Christian tight end Christian Morgan will announce his choice next Tuesday between Arkansas, Baylor, Florida State and Ole Miss.
If not Morgan, it could very well be Missouri City (Texas) linebacker Keree Renchie (6-2, 220), who is being recruited by Arkansas assistant Chris Klenakis.
"I am planning on visiting up there sometime early in July and if it is what I think it is, then I plan to commit," Renchie said. "I love the defense they are planning to run and Coach K really has won me over and got Arkansas up there for me. It's a great program obviously."
Renchie, who had over 90 tackles as a junior despite missing three games to injury, attends the same high school where current Razorback linebacker Alonzo Highsmith shined as a prep star.
"He's a great player and someone I look up, too," Renchie said. "We were at the same graduation party recently and he's made us all very proud being from our school."
Missouri City is also the same city that produced current Razorback star tailback Knile Davis.
"He's big-time," Renchie said. "Arkansas has been a place that guys from here have gone and been taken care of and produced. I'd like to be the next one."
Renchie has offers from Arkansas, Texas Tech and Colorado and interest from schools such as Oklahoma State, Oregon and Michigan State as well.
"I think they like the fact that I play fast and physical," Renchie said. "I like to get to the football fast and do some damage when I get there.
"I am not a afraid to stick my nose in the hole and make a play," Renchie added. "I still want to work on basically getting bigger and getting faster. I have run a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, but I think I can get it even lower."
Renchie doesn't plan to take a long time n deciding because he has a very good idea where he wants to go.
Especially since he plans to major in electrical engineering and Arkansas has a great program in that field.
"I would like to get up there and visit and Coach K is getting that set up for me right now," Renchie said. "After I have seen Arkansas and made sure everything is cool on and off the field, I plan to go ahead and commit. I just think right now it is the right place for me to be."
He is looking forward to then getting back for a game or two doing the season.
"I think Arkansas is going to have a great season," Renchie said. "I know they lost their head coach, but they still have a great staff and also have some great players.
"They are a great program that plays in the SEC – the best league in the country," Renchie added. "Who wouldn't want to play against the best? I know I do."
