Tulsa (OK) Booker T. Washington athlete Dominique Alexander (6-2, 200) came to Fayetteville on Monday to earn an offer from the Razorbacks.
His performance while playing safety in the Arkansas football camp resulted in Razorback assistant Kris Cinkovich caling on Tuesday to offer.
"It's a great feeling because I have been wanting to go here since like my freshman year," Alexander said. "It is like a dream come true to the get offer. It makes the dream a reality to be getting an offer from this program."
Alexander, who now has nine scholarship offers, did say he would probably wait a week or so before officially committing.
"I'm just going to pray over it and talk to my parents and make sure they are okay with it," Alexander said. "After that, I am probably going to pull the trigger."
Alexander got plenty of attention from Arkansas defensive coordinator Paul Haynes during his day at camp.
"He is a real good coach," Alexander said. "He is like a coach that I would love to play for. He coaches you hard, but after that he is cool with you. He just expects the best out of you, the most out of you and you just have to give it to him. If you don't give it to him, he is going to be on you. If you do give it to him, he is still going to be on you, but he is going to put you on the field."
He know has offers from Arkansas, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Indiana, Louisiana-Monroe, New Mexico, Utah State, Tulsa and Arkansas State.
Alexander played quarterback most of the season for Booker T. Washington in 2011 before switching to wide receiver late and catching 8 passes for 184 yards.
If he signs with the Razorbacks, he will follow in the footsteps of Booker T. alums Felix Jones, Eric Bennett and Jared Collins.
"They (the Razorbacks) are close to home, a dominant program, a powerhouse program and the Booker T. Washington players that come here have been treated great," Alexander said.
