Patterson (LA) tight end Deondre Skinner (6-3, 220) - one of the country's Top 25 tight ends - has Arkansas at the top of his list and is hoping that an offer from the Razorbacks is about to come his way.

Patterson (LA) tight end Deondre Skinner (6-3, 220) – a regular at Arkansas football camps in recent years - is supposed to make a phone call on Tuesday to the Razorback staff.

Skinner, who caught 31 passes for 524 yards and 11 touchdowns last season, is hoping that call results in a scholarship offer.

"I really like Arkansas and I am supposed to call (defensive line) Coach Kevin Peoples on Tuesday," Skinner said. "I know things have been kind of crazy up there since that stuff with (former Arkansas head ) Coach (Bobby) Petrino, but I am hoping now is the time. I have been holding out hoping for them."

Skinner already has offers from Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Tulane and Louisiana-Lafayette among others.

But it is Arkansas – where he came for Junior Day on March 3 - that he holds in the highest regard.

"I have been up there for the camps and I am planning to come again this year as long as I can work it out," Skinner said. "I also came up for Junior Day and just loved the whole campus and everything that is going on."

Skinner, ranked as the 22nd-best tight end in the country and a three-star prospect by Scout.com, said he would be ready to commit if offered.

"It's a great program and I don't think that is going to change with a different coach," Skinner said. "It's my number one school and it is where I would like to play in college. They told me they think about could be another D.J. Williams."

Skinner is interested to learn if Arkansas' offensive style will stay the same.

"I loved their offense – which is just like the one we run in high school," Skinner said. "I am hoping they are not going to go back to running the football all the time. I know that the new head coach (John L. Smith) used to coach at Michigan State and they threw the ball a lot."

Skinner was a force for Patterson last season as it went undefeated before being upset in the second round of the state playoffs.

"I think I am strong, a good blocker and have good speed," Skinner said. "I do think that I need to work on my route running and that is what I am focusing on right now."
