Not only is the next week full of college bowl games, but also provides a chance to see plenty of Arkansas grid commits and potential Razorback ones in televised high school All-Star games.
Two Arkansas pledges – Suwanee (GA) Peachtree Ridge cornerback Ray Buchanan, Jr. (5-10, 170) and Vigor (AL) Jamichael Winston (6-3, 240) actually got things underway Thursday night by participating in the Offense-Defense Bowl at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.
That opened the floodgates for the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl in Phoenix on Tuesday, the Under Armour All-American game Thursday in St. Petersburg, Fla., next Thursday and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 7th.
Six Razorback commits or potential ones will play in the Semper Fidelis game, which will be televised by CBS at 3 p.m.
That includes a pair of Arkansas pledges in Pottsville offensive line Jeremy Ward (6-4, 290) and Allen (Texas) tailback Jonathan Williams (6-1, 205).
Erie (PA) McDowell tailback Greg Garmon (6-1, 200) – who visited Arkansas on Dec. 16-18 - is also in the Semper Fidelis game and plans to announce his college choice during the contest.
"I just thought that would be a great time to do it," noted Garmon, who will choose between Arkansas, Miami and Iowa.
Chandler (AZ) wideout Javon Williams (6-5, 175) has also visited the Razorbacks and Chicago (IL) Simeon offensive lineman Jordan Diamond (6-6, 290) is scheduled to be in Fayetteville on Jan. 20-22.
Diamond, who took an unofficial visit to Arkansas last summer, has already visited Auburn and also has Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan in his final five schools.
Diamond told Scout.com that a key in Arkansas being in the mix is offensive line coach Chris Klenakis.
"It's Coach K," Diamond said. "He is really cool and one of the most energetic line coaches you will ever meet. We talk every week and have got to know each other well. That also provides me with the opportunity to play.
"That is pretty much what it comes down to, family thing down there at Arkansas, a big fan base down there," Diamond added. "It's just a good thing down there."
The Under Armour event is televised by ESPN Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with four prospects all expected to visit Arkansas on Jan. 20-22.
Citra (FL) North Marion tight end Sean Price (6-4, 215) is on the White team while the Black squad features cornerbacks Devonte Neal (5-10, 170) of Scottsdale (AZ) Chaparral, Trae Elston (6-0, 175) of Oxford, Ala., and Van (TX) High middle linebacker Dalton Santos (6-2, 250).
The U.S. Army All-American game inside the Alamodome will be televised at noon by NBC.
Springfield Hillcrest's Dorial Green-Beckham (6-6, 230) – regarded as the nation's best receiver and scheduled for an Arkansas visit on Jan. 20-22 – headlines a trio of Razorback possibilities in that game.
Arkansas is scheduled to get a visit on the same weekend from U.S. Army All-Americans linebacker linebacker Brian Nance (6-3, 210) of Trinity (TX) and could get one from Wilmer-Hutchins (TX) defensive back LaDarrell McNeil (6-2, 190).
