Buggs Invading Arkansas
Arkansas could be doing just that if former Arlington (Texas) Martin Texas prep star and current Chatham (VA) Hargrave Military Academy star Charles Buggs decides to be a Razorback.
Buggs (6-8, 215) took his official visit to Arkansas this weekend and came away excited by what he saw.
"It was great," Buggs said. "I really had the chance to see every thing about the school and the program. I got to see everything about the academics, all of the facilities including the weight room, how great the players and coaches are and how they practice, which is so fast."
Buggs, who chose to go to Hargrave in an effort to improve his offers, took earlier visits to Santa Clara and Minnesota.
He also has offers to Clemson and Marquette after blossoming while playing for Triump Select White's AAU squad this summer.
"Arkansas saw me play in a tournament in Dallas and I think liked what they saw in me," Buggs said. "Then they came down to see me practice at Hargrave."
Buggs said he really likes Mike Anderson's Arkansas staff.
"Coach Anderson and the guys are great coaches and great guys," Buggs said. "I really enjoyed being around them this on my visit and I felt really comfortable with the players."
Buggs believes he will be a power forward in college.
"I think I am a skilled four guy," Buggs said. "I can spot up outside and shoot the ball and really get up and down the floor, which would be great for me in Arkansas' system."
Buggs plans to make a decision known before too long.
"I am going to sit down with my parents and talk things over," Buggs said. "I will probably announce something in a few days, but definitely by a week or two from now."
Buggs missed half of his senior season due to an injury and his offers were more to come to schools and redshirt so he chose prep school instead.
"I just felt like that would be the best path for me," Buggs said.
Hargrave, where former player A.J. Hamilton takes over this season for long-time head coach and current Louisville assistant Kevin Keatts, is loaded again this season with four players already committed to sign with D-I schools.
Wake Forest has landed Hargave stars of Andre Washington and Codi Miller-McIntrye while Montez Harrell has pledged to sign with Virginia Tech and Ryan Miller committed to Louisville.
Hargrave scrimmages Oak Hill Academy on Tuesday and then opens its regular season against Virginia Western Community College on Saturday.
"I think we are going to have a great team," Buggs said. "I am really looking forward to playing with these guys and having a great season."
