Davis Injured In Scrimmage

Knile Davis

Arkansas confirms Friday morning that standout junior tailback Knile Davis suffered an ankle injury during Thursday night's scrimmage and will miss the entire 2011 season.

While there were well over 100 plays during Thursday night's Arkansas football scrimmage, it was the seventh one that will be the most memorable.

It is also potentially the most damaging.

Razorback junior tailback Knile Davis – a team captain that rushed for over 1,300 yards last season - ran into pile of defenders, could be heard screaming and stayed down on the ground. He sustained a broken bone near the left ankle.

Davis would be helped off the field and later carted to the locker room with what Hawgs Illustrated sources say is a major injury that will cause him to miss the season.

Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino confirmed the situation Friday morning when he said Davis would miss the season with the left ankle injury.

"I am extremely disappointed for Knile," UA head coach Bobby Petrino said. "He is a captain who was incredibly focused on the upcoming year. His leadership throughout the offseason was significant in the development of this team. Our athletic trainers and medical staff are the best in the country, and Knile's mental toughness will be an asset to him during the recovery process. I am fully confident in the mindset of our running back group and their ability to perform."
