In his weekly recruiting column, Dudley E. Dawson talks to Arlington (Texas) High quarterback Josh Greer (6-4, 195), one of the many signal callers who has made it to an Arkansas practice this spring. Arlington (Texas) High quarterback
Josh Greer
has the drive down to Fayetteville down pat now.
Greer (6-4, 195) made his second visit to
Arkansas
this spring when he came in for last Saturday’s scrimmage.
He had already been up with a group of selected juniors on March 5th.
“Arkansas is tremendous,” Greer said. “I really love this stadium and am looking forward to seeing all the new facilities they are building.”
Greer, who will be a mid-term graduate and sports a 3.5 grade point average, has gotten to know Arkansas quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee and likes what he is hearing from him.
“I really like Coach McGee,” Greer said. “He really knows what he is talking about and I think this is just a really great program. I think it would be a really fun school to play at because you want to be playing for the best while being your best.”
Greer is getting D-I attention despite only getting to start a few games last season for Arlington.
“I got injured during our spring game last May,” Greer said. “I wasn’t released until the third game of the season so I missed part of the season and just got worked in at the end of the season.”
He finished 22-of-42 for 283 yards and 4 touchdowns and also rushed for 62 yards while starting his team’s final three games.
“The two main schools that have been talking to me are
Baylor
and Arkansas,” Greer said. “
North Texas
,
Oklahoma State
and
Texas A&M
– but they just got a kid to commit –
Ole Miss
.”
Greer has garnered the attention because of a few qualities.
“I think I have really good footwork, I spend a lot of time in the film room and I am a hard worker,” Greer said. “I really am working on my arm strength and being able to throw the ball further down the field.”
