Redshirt freshmen center Travis Swanson (6-5, 315) is trying to unseat junior starter Seth Oxner (6…
But just about the time, he joined in with a miscue that was one of the 13 flags for 108 yards that University of Arkansas incurred in a 24-17 win over Texas A&M.
"The thing with the false starts, well, it was loud and there were miscommunications down the line, just small things here and there," Swanson said. "But those are little things that you can easily fixed."
The Razorbacks were sluggish running the ball against SEC foes Georgia (53 yards) and Alabama (62), but looked much better with a 132-yard night against the Big 12 Aggies.
Arkansas rushed the ball 43 times combined against the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide, but hit the ground a season-high 36 times against the Aggies.
"I think the rushing game, all those extra practices we had during the bye week really helped it out," Swanson said. "I think we really got it clicking."
UA head coach Bobby Petrino made it clear after the loss to Alabama that he was going to force the issue when it came to running the football and being physical throughout the contest.
"it is very important to be balanced throughout the whole game and not fade off on one side of the ball or one aspect of the offense as the game goes on," Swanson said.
"I think we are definitely coming together," Swanson added. "We had a rough spot a little at the beginning there, but we are finally learning how to play with each other. It's all coming together."
Swanson (6-5, 305) supplanted Seth Oxner as the starting center after the older offensive lineman had got the nod in Arkansas' previous 13 games.
"As for me, I really don't have anything to compare it to, but I think as far as my job, I am doing pretty good," Swanson said. "But I still have a half-season to go."
Auburn has a very good defense, but Swanson knows that he's not going to see anything much different than what he has seen against Alabama and Texas A&M.
"It is not anything that we haven't seen before," Swanson said. "I mean we went up against Alabama and Marcel (Darius), We just have to bring our A game."
